With the release of MySQL Cluster 7.0, data nodes are now multi-threaded. Couple this with the new efficient design of MySQL Cluster 6.3 where each thread has absolutely no lock contention with other threads, and you now get the same performance in a 7.0, 2-node cluster, as a 6.3, 10-node cluster. One data node can now handle the traffic from a set of MySQL Servers residing on a 24-core MySQL Server. The end result is that data nodes can now process 4.6X more DBT2 transactions compared to 6.3.

MySQL Cluster 7.0 adds support for the on-line addition of data nodes to a running cluster, without interruption to the application or users accessing the cluster. The following tests seek to measure the impact to both throughput and latency while a node is being added on-line
