Experienced UK-Based Sales Executive to Spread European Adoption of New Enterprise Version of Leading Open Source Database
CUPERTINO, Calif. & LONDON - MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, today announced the appointment of Richard Mason to the newly-created position of Vice President of Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Mason is based in the United Kingdom - and reports to Mark Burton, the company's executive vice president of worldwide sales.
Mason, 43, brings 20 years of software solutions sales experience to MySQL AB, as well as a strong track record of developing successful multi-country sales teams and high-value business partnerships. Most recently, he was Software Sales Director for EMEA at Sun Microsystems, after spending nearly a decade holding senior sales and business development positions for Sun's SunONE, iPlanet, and Forte products in the UK and Northern Europe (Nordics, BeNeLux, Switzerland, Middle East and CIS). Previously, Mason served in UK sales account management positions with Oracle, Ingres and DEC.
