BBC News, neckermann.de, Siemens and Tiger Communications to Describe their Real-World Use of Open Source Databases
LONDON -- September 26, 2006 -- MySQL AB, the developer of the world’s most popular open source database, will host two European Customer Conferences next month -- in London on October 17, and in Munich on October 19.
Leading companies such as BBC News, neckermann.de, Siemens and Tiger Communications will be presenting case studies describing their use of MySQL. The all-day events also offer attendees the chance to meet with MySQL executives and engineers, and to network with fellow MySQL customers. Sessions include popular topics such as the MySQL product roadmap, Web 2.0 Scale-Out strategies, DBA best practices, MySQL Cluster high availability, and database performance tuning.
"Last November, we experienced such a strong interest in our European customer conference, that this year we’ve expanded it to two cities," said Richard Mason, MySQL AB’s vice president for EMEA. "These events represent a great opportunity for European executives, database developers and DBAs to learn how they can benefit from open source technology like ours."
Both events are sponsored by Unisys.
"Unisys is driving open source and open standards right into the heart of enterprises -- to deliver secure business operations, with lower cost, greater agility, and competitive advantage through innovation," said Hans Sparkes, Head of Enterprise Open Source, Worldwide Strategic Marketing, Unisys. "Combining Unisys consulting and integration services with the power of MySQL Network, we can help clients take the disciplined approach required to implement high-performance open source database solutions that can scale to meet the most demanding enterprise business needs."
