Documentation Translations Increasing to Support Large, International MySQL User Community
MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, today announced the MySQL® reference manual has been translated into Portuguese and is available online at the MySQL Web site at http://www.mysql.com/documentation/#pt.
The MySQL reference manual is designed for all MySQL users, including developers of large Web sites and other mission-critical systems, as well as those who are embedding the high-performance MySQL database engine into other products. The manual provides information on everything from installation and basic SELECT syntax, to ACID transaction support, row-level locking, replication of servers to security, performance and optimization issues. The reference guide is searchable and has a table of contents on each page for easy navigation.
The MySQL reference manual was translated into Portuguese by MySQL partner EAC Software. Based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, EAC is the first authorized MySQL training center in Brazil. The company has worked extensively with complex, high-end database applications since 1986, with a strong emphasis in mid- and large-sized retail and wholesale businesses. As a partner to MySQL AB, EAC offers training and consulting services for the open source database, while also reselling MySQL licenses. For more information about EAC, visit http://www.eacnet.com.br/.
"For local MySQL users, of which there are many, and international developers whose primary language is Portuguese, the translated MySQL reference manual has tremendous value, said Helvécio Borges, CEO at EAC. By offering the MySQL reference manual in Portuguese, the world's Portuguese-speaking population of developers can more easily and effectively build high-powered applications with the MySQL database as the foundation.
"An important goal at MySQL is the development of its reference manual in a variety of languages to meet the needs of our global users, noted Kaj Arnö, MySQL AB vice president in charge of documentation. "Thanks in large part to our expansive network of international partners, the MySQL database is becoming even more widely known. By way of alliances with companies such as EAC, we are able to reach new markets and work more closely with regional customers.
In addition to the new Portuguese-language version, the MySQL reference manual is also available in English, French, German and Russian.
An English-language hard-copy book titled, The MySQL Reference Manual is published and distributed by O'Reilly & Associates in the United States and is available through most major booksellers. A hard-copy German-language version of the MySQL reference manual is also available through German publisher MITP.
The Portuguese version of the MySQL reference manual is copyrighted by MySQL AB but is available for free browsing. The manual copyright protection does not allow republication, in print or online, of the manual without an agreement with MySQL AB, but personal use of the information on the Web site is not limited.
MySQL AB develops and markets MySQL, the world's most popular open source database. With an estimated 4 million installations and over 35,000 downloads per day, the MySQL database is quickly becoming the core of many business-critical, enterprise applications.
